Senior-Adult Activities Coordinator

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Senior Adult Activities Coordinator to lead and enhance the quality of life of participants in an active-senior-adult community program. The ideal candidate will be bilingual in English and Spanish, have great interpersonal skills and a strong understanding of aging issues as well as experience in working with senior adults, program planning, and networking with community resources. This role is essential in creating engaging and meaningful activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being for our participants.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a morning activities program 2 to 3 times per week tailored to the interests and needs of participants and providing them with opportunities for social networking, recreation, creativity, exercise and mental stimulation.
  • Plan, organize, and lead program activities and outings that encourage participation of all area senior adults, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
  • Communicate effectively with participants and staff to ensure activities are well-coordinated and meet the diverse needs of our population.
  • Encourage ongoing participation by building positive relationships with participants, keeping attendance records, and, where appropriate, contacting participants who miss multiple sessions.
  • Manage schedules for daily activities, drawing on community resources to offer a variety of informational sessions and activities.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate participant interests and abilities, adjusting programs as necessary to maximize engagement.

Experience

  • Proven experience in working with senior adults and developing program/lesson plans preferred.
  • Familiarity with issues facing senior adults and the community resources available to assist them is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Spanish are essential for interacting effectively with participants, families, and staff.
  • Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing needs within the program.
